Charles Everett Withrow, 68, of Colcord went home to be with the Lord after a long battle with cancer on Monday, April 29, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Gladys Withrow and his oldest brother, Eddie Mitchell Withrow. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Regina “Penny” Withrow of Colcord; his two sons, Charles “Matt” Withrow and Lesli of Crab Orchard and Mark “Joey” Withrow and Tammy of Clear Creek; his only daughter, Wendy and Leroy Riley of Colcord; six grandchildren: Coty, Anna, Jacob, Parker, Gracie and Landyn; also Tiffanie, Tamara and daughters; a sister, Etta Mae Cooper of Colcord; two brothers, Roy “Pete” Withrow and Doris of Columbus, OH and Emmett Withrow and Myrtle of Colcord; a sister-in-law, Ann Withrow of Lula, GA and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins; also a host of bluegrass musician friends that he held dear to his heart and his best friend, Smokey. He was a man of many talents including: carpentry, hunting, fishing and playing bluegrass music. He was a member of the UMWA, district 17. A coal miner at Beckley Coal where he earned his nickname “Bullwheel”. He then became known to many as “Mr. Charles” working for RCCAA Head Start, driving a school bus. He faithfully attended The First Presbyterian Church of Colcord since childhood. His life was his testimony for his love of others and God. His love of bluegrass music and spreading the gospel in song will live on through his son, Matt and grandson, Jacob. I’m a winner either way! No one fights alone.
