An old hippie never dies he just fades away… with “Born to Raise Hell” tattooed on his chest and Jesus in his heart, our old hippie, Dewey Dale Honaker, 69, of Arnett, WV faded away to be forever young. This big burly guy came into this world on May 23, 1950, the son of the late Jack and Mary Burnside Honaker. Also, preceding him in death was the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Danelle Jean Wright Honaker; a brother, Cledith Williams and sisters, Myrtle Winstead and Freida Williams. He leaves behind his sons, Joshua (Josh) Honaker of Wytheville, VA and Jason (Jake) Honaker and wife, Misty of Arnett; his very precious daughter, Mary Jo Honaker; grandchildren, Wolfgang Honaker and wife, Melissa of Arnett and Danelle Honaker, a student at Fairmont State; siblings devastated by the loss of their baby brother: Jack Honaker Jr., Davy (David) Honaker, Wilma Cook and Mary Jane Honaker all of the Arnett area. Dewey was an eccentric soul who would rather barter than buy; a musician who could often be found in his studio playing the guitar ad singing with friends and family. He was also an artist, but his great love was his motorcycle. We highly suspect that he is out there riding right now with his long hair and beard blowing in the wind, guitar on his back. Most importantly, Dewey made no bones about having Jesus in his heart.
Funeral services will be Sunday, October 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Arnett Assembly of God Church, Arnett, WV with Rev. Earl Cooper officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest beside his beloved Danelle at the Honaker Cemetery #1 overlooking his boyhood home place. The visitation will be from noon until 2:00 pm at the church.
