Jesse Duane “Dicky” Ferrell, 74, of Orgas peacefully went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by family on Sunday, November 4, 2018 after a battle with cancer.
He was born on August 22, 1944 to Madeline Ferrell and the late Claude Henry Ferrell. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Marines, served in the Vietnam War and was a retired employee of CSX Railroad. He loved hunting, gardening and spending time with his grandbabies.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 37 years (his argument was 38 years), Theresa Lynn Ferrell; his children: Shane (Ashley), Tammy (David) and Kenzi; grandchildren: Caitlin, George, Drayden, Caleb, Serenity and Jesslynn; a brother, Ervin Ferrell and a sister, Jean Mynes all of Orgas; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law as well as a large host of nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, June Cantley; father-in-law, Delana Charles Simpson Sr. and a sister-in-law, Terrie Lee Simpson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 on Monday afternoon Nov. 12, 2018 at Keith Full Gospel Church, Keith, WV with Pastor June Ferrell officiating and Steven Chapman singing. Interment will follow in the Pineview Cemetery Orgas, WV.
The family encourages all who will to wear flannel to his funeral in his honor and to celebrate this upcoming Veteran’s Day with pride.
Armstrong Funeral Home Whitesville is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 Sunday at the church
